Aware about my passion to know new restaurants, a friend told me about this one called The Little Door. I was excited about it, of course, and in the same day I checked their website that reinforced exactly what she said about it: small charming restaurant in West Hollywood. I was trying to find a special occasion to go to the restaurant when my birthday came out and I didn’t hesitate making a reservation there.
The name “The Little Door” brings anxiety and enthusiasm to figure out what is the secret behind that door (at least for me). And I can tell it is a door of a secret passage. When you open the little door’s door, the little is forgotten and the big gets the scene. The lights, greens, charming tables and romantic atmosphere takes place in such a big format that I told myself: yes, the perfect place for a dinner with my love in my special day. But the surprises was just beginning.
A hostess took us to our table and to get there we walked through three different rooms, each one with their specific style (the little is just the door here!). The first room is in a patio cover with greens in the top, round tables, candles and music. The second room more formal, lightened, wooden furniture, low music. And the third (that luckily they choose for us) small, dark, comfortable couches and pillows, good music and romance. Love it!
The restaurant is specialized in french cuisine, with few options of appetizers and entrees. We choose to have:
Spicy Ahi Tuna Tartare and Shaved Fennel Salad with Brioche Toast and Green Olive Tapenade.
Grilled Filet Mignon, Portobello Mushrooms and Asparagus, Marsala Wine Sauce with Balsamic Glazed Cipollini Onions, Fingerling Potato Puree (The picture is not good but the food was delicious).
Smoked Garlic Crusted Rack of Lamb, Mustard and Rosemary Espagnole Sauce with Polenta Diamond Crisps, Spicy Swiss Chard with Lemon.
After the meal, another creative surprise: the dessert menu comes in a blackboard and literally the waiter present you a board and act like he is teaching you about the desserts options. And we learned a LOT about the Chocolate Molten Cake. Delicious!!
